In the early 1900’s Vinings was a resort for those living in down town Atlanta. Vinings proper is made up of just  10,000 acres.  The area that makes up Vinings was originally owned by Hardy Pace who helped to found Atlanta. He operated the ever popular Pace’s Ferry that ran across the Chattahoochee River, in this area between Atlanta and Buckhead  In 1884 he was buried in a small family cemetery atop Vinings Mountain, now called Mount Wilkinson.
